How to sew home slippers by hand. We sew warm house slippers. Life-size slipper pattern. Materials and tools for work

House slippers are easy to make with your own hands, even if you don’t have a sewing machine. The parts of the slippers can be joined using hand stitches, including using a special awl.
It’s not difficult to make a pattern for slippers; just trace the outline of the foot and experimentally cut out the top of the slippers. Slippers can be made from an old sheepskin coat, leather jacket, bag, cloth and felt materials, etc.

This master class contains 15 photos that clearly show how to sew a simple model of house slippers with your own hands. The master class also contains a free pattern for size 37.

Slipper pattern size 37

This pattern is designed for a size 37 foot, but can be used as a basis for making a pattern in another size larger or smaller. The pattern is given without allowances.
Print these photos (A4 paper size) on a printer, cut out the outlines of both parts with scissors, and glue these parts of the pattern together along the red line.

Make sure your pattern is the correct size before cutting. To do this, you need to check with another ruler, the distance (20cm) in the photo. If the value differs from 20 cm, you need to change the printer settings.

This simple model of slippers is easiest to make from felt or the top of felt boots, but they can be made from scraps of leather, cloth and other dense and hard materials.
Children's slippers can be made from sheepskin, faux or natural fur. For small children, the soles of slippers made of fur or sheepskin do not need to be reinforced with additional padding.
The sole of fur slippers for adults must be doubled with a leather pad.

This model of slippers is quite simple, so it is advisable to decorate it with appliqué, especially if the slippers are for children.

To ensure that the decoration is neatly attached to the surface of the slippers, buy an adhesive-based applique in the store.

The adhesive-based applique is installed using a hot iron, as shown in this photo.

When sewing slippers, it is advisable to use strong, thick threads that simultaneously perform a decorative function.
Install a needle number 100 - 110 on the sewing machine, set the stitch length to the maximum.

To make the finishing stitch more noticeable, I inserted two threads into the needle and also wound a double thread onto the bobbin.

Now secure the edges with clips as shown in the photo.

Sew this seam on a sewing machine with an edge allowance of 0.6 - 0.8 cm.

To make this seam stronger, it is advisable to repeat the stitch.

Therefore, lower the needle down and turn the slippers in the other direction. Make a duplicate line.

Practically, the sewing of the slippers is complete; all that remains is to strengthen the sole with additional padding. By the way, if you don’t have a sewing machine, you can make this seam by hand, including using an overcast stitch.

How to strengthen the sole of slippers with additional padding

Slippers must have durable and wear-resistant soles. When sewing slippers at home, the choice of materials for the soles is limited. Typically, thick natural leather is used for this. You can cut the padding for the sole from the top of old boots or an old leather bag, etc.
If you wish, you can buy a ready-made sole in a store made from micropores or other materials.

Trace the outline of the sole of the slippers on paper, as shown in the photo.

The cut out sole can simply be glued with glue.

Now you can wear slippers without fear that the soles will wear out.

If you like unusual, original things made with your own hands, then soft slippers will be an excellent option for replenishing your home wardrobe. You can sew home slippers from any available materials, it can be an old sheepskin coat, the tops of unnecessary boots, pieces of fur, woolen fabric, drape, leatherette, and so on.

You can sew closed, very warm slippers with your own hands. At the bottom of the page there is a file with life-size patterns that you can copy and print. There are three sizes available: 38, 39, 41. If necessary, the patterns can be reduced by several sizes and sew compact children's slippers.

If you want to make your own slipper pattern, you can take a sheet of paper and trace your foot, you can also trace the outline of regular old slippers, tracing their sole. However, you only need to outline your leg while wearing a sock, so it will be more spacious. To create your own patterns for house slippers, you can use existing patterns shown in the picture, adjusting them to fit your foot.

What material can such cozy slippers be made from? You can choose any available materials. In most cases, the lower parts of the sole are made of artificial leather, leather or split leather. The upper part of the sole is made of suede, split leather, cloth, and there is a gasket between the top and bottom layers. You can use batting and cardboard for this. However, if desired, you can use any materials by cutting out scraps from old things. The main thing is to show your imagination and put in a little work. You can sew such slippers on a sewing machine or by hand, sewing each seam with a thick thread.

Nowadays, many people have problems with shoes, including house shoes. That is, people cannot buy comfortable slippers or slippers. But after work or study, your legs really need rest. So we asked ourselves: how to sew slippers.

And not just indoor slippers, but an original model. How to make slippers with your own hands in the shape of Mice and Dogs - see the master classes. In addition, here you will find patterns for slippers of any size, from 36 to 45.

These original mouse-like slippers are quick and easy to sew. Before sewing slippers, let's look for material for them. What you can take as a sole: the tops of old felt boots or boots, leather from an old bag, fabric from an old backpack or briefcase, suede or thick cloth.

Take an inventory of old things - and you will probably find something suitable for sewing slippers. Using the principle of our master class, you can sew both children's and adult slippers.

You can remove the “ears” or make them smaller and sharper - then it will no longer be a Mouse, but a Cat. Even a novice seamstress can sew such slippers. If you don’t have a sewing machine, sew on your hands using a “needle forward” stitch.

To work you will need:

  1. A piece of thick fabric (cloth, denim, felt, drape, corduroy, etc.).
  2. A piece of leather for the sole.
  3. Foam rubber or batting (you can cut padding polyester from an old jacket).
  4. Needle, nylon threads.
  5. Embroidery threads.
  6. Fleece or faux fur for the insoles and lining of slippers.
  7. Paper, pencil.
  8. Tailor's pins.

In order to sew slippers with your own hands, you need a pattern. To do this, we take our most comfortable and wide shoes or our child’s shoes, in this case, clogs, put the shoe on paper and trace the sole with a pencil.

Take a sheet of paper and wrap it over the shoe. Trace with a pencil and cut out the top part of the template.

So, we cut out: 2 blue felt or fabric pieces for the upper, 2 white fleece pieces for the inside of the upper, 2 fleece pieces for the insole, 2 pieces. for the sole, 4 blue parts for the ears (the option of ears to choose from is shown here - larger and smaller). Don't forget 0.7-1 cm - seam allowances. In addition to these parts, you need to cut out 2 parts from foam rubber for the sole.

We sew the ears - we sew them with small stitches using a contrasting thread.

Then we embroider the “muzzle” of the Mouse, cut out the nose from the fabric, and sew beads or buttons instead of eyes.

The ears need to be folded at the base as shown in the photo and sewn with several stitches. We place a white fleece piece on top of our structure face to face. Then both parts are sewn at a distance of 1 cm from the edge. We sewed the insole and upper together. Now you need to sew on the sole.

We sew and stitch along the edges, departing 0.7-1 cm from the cuts. We leave the bottom unstitched - we still need to insert foam rubber here.

Then, turn the slippers inside out. All that remains is to insert foam rubber or batting inside. To do this, we take our 2 parts, cut out of foam rubber using a stencil, and insert them inside the slippers.

Holding the foam rubber, we fasten the heel with pins and carefully sew together the remaining unstitched piece of the sole. Homemade slippers, sewn by yourself, are ready. If you like it, you can sew slippers with different ears: round ones like bears, long ones like bunnies, wide ones like dogs.

Doggie Slippers - MK

The second option for self-sewn slippers is Dog slippers. The pattern is suitable for sizes 35 and 37. When you cut the upper part of the shoe, pay attention to the width of the part (it seems to us that the width should be reduced by 1-2 cm). However, everything is very individual - many people like loose shoes.

In the diagram, size 35 is indicated in red, and size 37 is indicated in black; size 35 slippers have open toes. Do-it-yourself Dog slippers differ from previous slippers in that here the stitching goes along the top of the product.
For work we will need:

  1. Fabric for the insole (cotton, calico, flannel, etc.)
  2. Strip of fabric for finishing.
  3. Narrow ribbon for bows.
  4. Sintepon.
  5. Sole made of leather, faux leather, cloth, suede, etc.
  6. Paper, ruler, pencil.
  7. Scissors.
  8. Nylon threads and embroidery thread.

We will start the master class with making a stencil. On an A4 sheet of paper, mark the pattern points and draw the parts of the required size. Let's cut out a stencil from paper. Place the stencil on the fabric, folding the fabric in half. We need 4 parts for the insoles. Please note - details vary.

You will get 2 parts of the left and 2 parts of the right slipper. And using the same template, we cut out 2 parts from padding polyester. We fold the blanks as in the photo, with a padding polyester in the middle.

We pin and sew by machine or by hand.

We sew the sole to the workpiece, retreating 0.5-0.7 cm from the edge.

We cut out 4 top parts according to the template. Fold it inside out. We shape the “nose” and sew in a circle at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge of the part.

We sew on the buttons for the eyes, and decorate the top edge with a strip of fabric.

We apply the finished top to the insole, pin it with pins and try it on the foot. If the depth of the top suits you, sew it in a circle at a distance of 0.5-0.7 cm.

We cut out the ears randomly - 4 identical parts. Sew in the round.

Sew the ears to both sides of the top. We embroider the mouth with colored thread.

The product is ready. You can decorate your ears with bows.

Ready-made slipper patterns for all sizes

Patterns for sizes 36 to 45, no need to add seam allowances.

Further words from the author
At the request of site visitors, I made a master class: patterning house slippers with my own hands. After all, you won’t always find the right size on the Internet, for example 45, believe me, it’s very simple and faster than searching for what you need on the Internet.

First, trace your foot on a piece of paper; it’s better to do it while standing, so that your foot is completely on the floor.

2.

Correct the pattern: straighten the outer side, connecting the heel and foot, leave a deflection on the inner side, because you will need to somehow distinguish between the left and right sneakers.

3.

Mark on the bottom piece where the top piece will end or begin. This is 1/3 of half a mortar.

4.

Next, place your foot on the outlined foot and measure the length of the upper part from the line, going around the height of the big toe. There is no need to make the top part too long; it will be uncomfortable to wear such slippers.

5.

Next, measure the width of the upper part from the marks to the left and right of the foot and add 2-3 cm, this depends on the density of the fabric; the thicker the fabric for the slippers, the greater this increase.

6.

Now adjusting the pattern. We have positions 3 and 4, this is the beginning of the top part. Positions 1 and 2 mark the widest points on the foot.

7.

Fold the foot pattern in half and draw this half on a new sheet of paper. Marking points 2 and 3 and the middle of the pattern.

8.

Turn over and place on the other side of the middle of the pattern, marking points 1 and 4

9.

Connect points 1 and 4 with a straight line, points 2 and 3 with a concave line - this is the inside of the sneaker.

10.

Cut out and trace the resulting pattern on a new sheet of paper. Fold the first option along the middle line. Mark point 3 or 4 with a cut out triangle - and make marks on the new lower part. From the toe, set aside the data from photo 4, connect point 4 and the set aside segment, mine is 13 cm. Cut it at an angle, we will only need the top piece, we can get rid of the bottom one.

11.

On a new sheet of paper, from the top point along the fold, mark the depth of the part, mine is 13. And from this point to the left, half the measured width of the foot from photo 5. Fold the top points, hold it with your finger and move it to the previously made mark for the width of the top part. Circle everything.

12.

Correct the upper part, set control points so that there are no distortions when connecting the upper and lower parts. Now the pattern of house slippers is ready, and how to sew slippers, see this article. Ugh, it’s very difficult to describe such simple master classes. I hope everything is clear to you! I will be glad if you write about this in the comments under the article.

Here are a few options from the Internet for inspiration.
Cozy slippers to fit, dear needlewomen!

Felt slippers in half an hour

Today I will tell you how to quickly sew warm slippers from felt.

1.

To do this, you will need natural felt measuring approximately 60 x 60 cm, it is sold in construction stores and is used as insulation, you can sew such slippers from colored pressed felt for crafts, a good sewing machine, although it is quite possible to sew it manually with a blanket stitch, if you wish, then leather for the sole from abrasion.

2.

At the end of the article you will find a pattern (size 37 or 45 with seam allowances), my son, having a foot size of 42, sometimes wears such slippers with a sock, so he is not embarrassed by this size, I hope you are too. Print the pattern, taking into account that the top part on the pattern has a fold, it is better to cut it out separately already in unfolded form. Draw a pattern with a marker, marking the joints, which are indicated by numbers. Place the parts together and using a thick needle and strong thread in the marked places, make several stitches over the edge so that the parts do not move when sewing. If you want reinforcement with leather, then a piece of leather must first be glued to the sole.

3.

Then join the parts manually or using a machine, moving 1 cm from the edge. When sewing, the upper part should be gathered a little for volume.

4.

Remove the threads used to connect the marks. And very warm felt slippers are ready in half an hour. All that remains is to decorate them, for example, with buttons, pieces of leather or colored threads.

5.

Sneaker pattern

Warmth for your feet, dear needlewomen!

A universal option. The slippers are sewn from cotton fabric; non-woven/dublerin and synthetic padding are used for strengthening and volume. Let's immediately talk about the material for the sole. If it is important that it does not slip, you can use leather or eco-leather, a special material for the soles (as a rule, it is natural or synthetic fabric with rubber pimples), take microporous rubber (foamiran) or purchased insoles made of material with suitable properties. In other cases, any dense material will do so that the sole holds its shape. By the way, purchased insoles can also serve as a reinforcer for the soles of slippers (the soles need to be strengthened, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to walk).

You will need:

Fabric for the front and back sides of slippers;

Sintepon for the volume of the top of the slippers;

Quite thick interlining or other material to strengthen the sole;

Sole material or purchased insoles;

Paper, pencil and scissors for patterns;

Fabric scissors;

Sewing machine and thread.

Step 1

First you need to make a pattern for the sole and top of the slippers. How to do it. If you are sewing slippers with open toes, as in our example, mark the neckline as well.

Step 2

We cut out the details. For each slipper you need: 1 piece of material for the sole, 1 piece of sole made of padding, 1 piece of the sole made of fabric, 2 pieces of the top of the slippers made of fabric (1 piece of fabric for the lining and 1 piece of fabric for the outer side), 1 piece of the top of the slippers made of padding polyester.

Step 3

Fold the upper parts of the fabric slippers right sides inward and sew along the long sides. Cut triangles in the middle at the top and bottom (see photo), not reaching 2 mm from the seams.

Step 4

Turn out the parts of the top of the slippers, iron them and place the padding polyester inside.

Step 5

Attach the top of the slipper to the fabric sole piece with clips (see photo).

Attach the bottom part of the sole on top with the wrong side up (see photo). Repeat for the second slipper.

Step 6

Sew the pieces around the perimeter, leaving an opening for turning. Cut out the corners on the toe and heel (see photo). Repeat for the second slipper.

Step 7

Turn the slippers inside out and insert the seal inside. Repeat for the second one.

Step 8

Topstitch the bottom of the slippers while sewing up the holes. Ready.

2. Cloth slippers with closed toe

These slippers are similar to the previous ones. They are distinguished by a closed toe and the presence of ribbon decor. Detailed master class.

3. DIY felt slippers

Cozy, warm felt slippers are hand-sewn from just one piece!

You will need:

Printer and paper to print the pattern;

Scissors;

Quite thick strong threads and needle for hand sewing.

Step 1

Print and cut out the template (pattern and size chart).

Step 2

Cut out 2 mirror pieces from felt, transfer and also make T-shaped cuts.

Step 3

Fold the slipper and sew over the edge by hand. First, we sew the vertical seam on the heel, without sewing 1.2-2 cm from the bottom (depending on the size of the slippers). Slightly cut the felt by 1.5-2 cm in 2 places on the heel to create a flap. Round its corners. Fold the flap up and sew it on. Sew a long seam. Fold the flap over and (if desired) sew it.

You will need:

Terry fabric;

Unnecessary flip-flops;

Sole material;

Step 2

Add 1.5 cm to seam allowances on all sides and cut out the pieces.

Step 3

Using the cut out parts of the sole as templates, cut out the same parts from terry cloth and padding polyester.

Step 4

Measure the sole around the perimeter + measure its thickness.

Cut out 2 side pieces each from terry cloth and padding polyester: add 5 cm to the resulting length of the strip, and 2-3 cm to the width.

Step 5

Outline the pattern for the top part of the slippers. Read more about how to do this.
