Why do you want boiled beets? Beneficial properties of beets: why should they be present in the diet? What does the body lack when it wants something unhealthy?

Root vegetables contain a huge storehouse of nutrients. A good feature is that they are not lost during heat treatment, so boiled beets are in no way inferior in benefits to the raw product.

Beetroot contains:

  • vitamins of group B, P, PP;
  • fiber;
  • folic acid;
  • magnesium;
  • manganese;
  • potassium;
  • iron;
  • rubidium;
  • cesium;
  • sulfur.

And a huge amount of nutritional components.

The composition also contains amino acids such as arginine, histidine, betanine, etc. The amount of each substance is so significant that it allows you to replenish all the body’s reserves.

Reference. The calorie content of beets is 40 Kcal per 100 grams of product.

We talked in detail about the chemical composition of beets, how they are useful and harmful to human health.

Reasons

The human body is so smart that it can tell itself what it is missing. If you really want a product, it is likely that it is the body that symbolizes the lack of some substances.

Diseases

If the body requires beets, this may be a sign that the liver wants to “rest.” To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to drink 100 grams of fresh beet juice in the morning for a week once a year, and another 200 grams of baked beet juice throughout the day.

What is missing in the body?

Why does the body need beets, what does it lack? This is a signal that there is a deficiency of quite rare vitamins and microelements:

  • Vitamin U is a very important vitamin, but it is worth noting that it is not produced by the cells of the body and comes only from food. The vitamin has many functions, but is mainly needed to recognize and eliminate foreign compounds. Rarely found in products. Beetroot is one of the main sources of this component.
  • Saponins– fight tumors, have a beneficial effect on mental activity, reduce the possibility of brain aging (read about the benefits of beet juice and how to take it correctly for cancer).
  • Chromium– an important microelement that is necessary for proper lipid, protein and carbohydrate metabolism. Chromium deficiency affects glucose metabolism.

Other reasons

The desire to eat beets often indicates a need - beets improve metabolism and help remove toxins, waste and other unwanted compounds from the body. Many women know that beets also promote weight loss.

You may want beets not only because of a lack of something in your body. It is quite possible that the whole point is simply a matter of human taste preferences.

When can it cause harm rather than benefit?

Beets have a number of contraindications. You should know about them before including root vegetables in your diet. Contraindications are primarily due to the chemical composition of the vegetable. So, it is better to avoid eating beets in the following cases:

Beets are a very popular product. This can be explained by the fact that it contains a huge amount of microelements that have a beneficial effect on the human body. The juice of this root vegetable is used in the treatment of and. Read our articles about how eating a vegetable affects, and whether this root vegetable can be eaten by people with, with,.

Is it possible to eat it: how often and in what dosage?

It is not at all necessary to eat a lot of vegetables, because an excess may not have a very beneficial effect on the body, despite all the usefulness of the root vegetable. In addition, before including a product in your diet, it is very important to pay attention to contraindications and possible side effects. To replenish your reserves of nutrients, it is enough to consume only 100 grams of beets per day.

Why should you eat it? Beets are a storehouse of nutrients. An important feature of the product is the resistance of its components to storage and heat treatment.

Regular consumption of this product will help solve many problems., in particular: anemia, vitamin deficiency, metabolic disorders, constipation. However, we should not forget that any product is useful only in moderation, otherwise, instead of replenishing the body’s reserves, there is a possibility of exacerbation of diseases such as diabetes, gastritis or calcium deficiency.

I want something...

Peanuts, peanut butter.

The desire to chew peanuts, according to scientists, is inherent primarily in residents of megacities. If you have a passion for peanuts, as well as legumes, it means that your body is not receiving enough B vitamins.

If the smell of ripe bananas makes you dizzy, then you need potassium. Banana lovers are usually found among those who take diuretics or cortisone drugs, which “eat up” potassium. A banana contains about 600 mg of potassium, which is a quarter of the daily requirement of an adult. However, these fruits are very high in calories. If you are afraid of gaining weight, replace bananas with tomatoes, white beans or figs.

A passion for bacon and other smoked meats usually overcomes people on a diet. Limiting fat-containing foods leads to a decrease in blood cholesterol levels, and smoked meats are precisely the product that contains the most saturated fat. If you don’t want to negate the effect of the diet, don’t give in to temptation.

Melons contain a lot of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, as well as vitamins A and C. People with weak nervous and cardiovascular systems have a special need for them. By the way, half an average melon contains no more than 100 kcal, so you won’t be afraid of extra pounds.

Sour fruits and berries.

A craving for lemons, cranberries, etc. is observed during colds, when a weakened body experiences an increased need for vitamin C and potassium salts. Those who have problems with the liver and gall bladder are also drawn to sour things.

Paints, plaster, earth, chalk.

The desire to chew all this usually occurs in children, teenagers and pregnant women. It indicates a deficiency of calcium and vitamin D, which occurs during the period of intensive growth in children and the formation of the fetal skeletal system during pregnancy. Add dairy products, eggs, butter and fish to your diet - this can easily correct the situation.

Onions, garlic, spices and seasonings.

As a rule, people with respiratory problems experience an urgent need for spices. If a person is craving garlic and onions and spreads mustard on his bread instead of jam, he may have some kind of respiratory disease on his nose. Apparently, in this way - with the help of phytoncides - the body tries to protect itself from infection.

Milk and dairy products.

Lovers of fermented milk products, especially cottage cheese, are most often people in need of calcium. A sudden love for milk can also arise due to a lack of essential amino acids - tryptophan, lysine and leucine.

Ice cream.

Ice cream, like other dairy products, is a good source of calcium. But people with impaired carbohydrate metabolism, suffering from hypoglycemia or diabetes have a special love for it. Psychologists see love for ice cream as a manifestation of longing for childhood.

Seafood.

A constant craving for seafood, especially mussels and seaweed, is observed with iodine deficiency. such people need to buy iodized salt.

Olives and olives.

The love for olives and olives (as well as pickles and marinades) arises due to a lack of sodium salts. In addition, addiction to salty foods occurs in people with thyroid dysfunction.

It is loved by those who need calcium and phosphorus. Try replacing cheese with cabbage and broccoli - it contains much more of these substances and almost no calories.

Butter.

A craving for it is observed among vegetarians, whose diet is low in fat, and among residents of the North who lack vitamin D.

Sunflower seeds.

The desire to chew the seeds most often occurs among smokers who are in dire need of antioxidant vitamins, which sunflower seeds are rich in.

Chocolate.

The love for chocolate is a universal phenomenon. However, caffeine addicts and those whose brains especially need glucose love chocolate more than others.

SWEET. Perhaps you are working your butt off and have already gotten on your nerves. Glucose is actively involved in the production of the stress hormone - adrenaline. Therefore, with nervous and mental overstrain, sugar is consumed faster, and the body constantly requires new portions.
· In such a situation, treating yourself to sweets is not a sin. But it’s better not to gobble up pieces of rich cakes (they contain a lot of heavy carbohydrates), but limit yourself to chocolate or marshmallows.
SALT. If you attack pickled cucumbers, tomatoes and herring like a beast, if the food always seems under-salted, we may be talking about an exacerbation of old inflammation or the emergence of a new source of infection in the body. Practice shows that most often these problems are associated with the genitourinary system - cystitis, prostatitis, inflammation of the appendages, etc.
SOUR. This is often a signal of low stomach acidity. This happens with gastritis with insufficient secretory function, when little gastric juice is produced. This can be checked using gastroscopy. Also, food with a sour taste has cooling, astringent properties, helps relieve colds and fever, and stimulates appetite.
BITTER. Perhaps this is a signal of intoxication of the body after an untreated disease or slagging of the digestive system. If you often want something with a bitter taste, it makes sense to arrange fasting days and engage in cleansing procedures.
BURNING. The dish seems bland until you throw half a pepper shaker into it, but your feet lead you to a Mexican restaurant? This may mean that you have a “lazy” stomach; it digests food slowly and needs a stimulus to do so. And hot spices and spices stimulate digestion. Also, the need for spicy food may signal a violation of lipid metabolism and an increase in the amount of “bad” cholesterol. Spicy food thins the blood, promotes the removal of fats, and “cleanses” blood vessels. But at the same time it irritates the mucous membrane. So don't load up on chili and salsa on an empty stomach.
Astringent. If you suddenly have an unbearable desire to put a handful of bird cherry berries in your mouth or you can’t calmly pass by persimmons, your defenses are weakening and urgently need replenishment. Products with an astringent taste promote the division of skin cells (help heal wounds) and improve complexion. They help stop bleeding (for example, with fibroids), remove phlegm in case of bronchopulmonary problems. But astringent foods thicken the blood - this can be dangerous for people with increased blood clotting and a tendency to form blood clots (varicose veins, hypertension, some heart diseases).
FRESH. The need for such food often arises with gastritis or stomach ulcers with high acidity, constipation, as well as problems with the liver and gall bladder. Fresh food weakens, helps relieve cramping pain, and soothes the stomach.
Chocolate-sweet passion. More often than others, caffeine fans and those whose brains especially need glucose suffer from “chocolate addiction.” This also applies to other sweets. If you eat an unbalanced diet, your body will also need glucose - as the fastest source of energy. Namely, chocolate copes with this task perfectly. But keep in mind that this product contains a lot of fat, the excess of which is dangerous for your blood vessels and figure. Eat more vegetables and cereals - they are rich in complex carbohydrates. And for dessert, choose dried fruits or honey with a small amount of nuts.
Cheese passion. Spicy, salty, with or without spices... You cannot live a day without it, its taste drives you crazy - you are ready to consume kilograms of it (in any case, you eat at least 100 g per day). Nutritionists claim that cheese is loved by those who have an urgent need for calcium and phosphorus. Of course, cheese is the richest source of these much-needed and extremely beneficial substances for the body, but fats... *** Try replacing cheese with broccoli cabbage - it has a lot of calcium and phosphorus, and almost no calories. If your body accepts milk well, drink 1-2 glasses a day, and eat cheese little by little (no more than 50 g per day) and together with raw vegetables.
Passion is sour and lemon. Perhaps your diet is dominated by difficult-to-digest foods, and the body is trying to increase the acidity of gastric juice to make its work easier. When you have a cold, you may also be drawn to sour fruits and berries - an excellent source of vitamin C.
*** Choose meals with moderate fat content and do not mix many foods in one sitting. Avoid fried, overly salted and overly spicy foods, as well as those that have undergone excessive heat treatment. If you notice problems with digestion (especially in the liver and gallbladder), be sure to be examined by a gastroenterologist.
Smoked passion. A passion for smoked meats and similar delicacies usually overcomes those who are on an overly strict diet. Long-term restriction of fat-containing foods in the diet leads to a decrease in the level of “good” cholesterol in the blood, and smoked meats contain a sufficient amount of saturated fat. *** Don't get carried away with low-fat foods - choose one that still contains a little fat. For example, buy yogurt, kefir or fermented baked milk with one or two percent fat. Eat at least a tablespoon of vegetable oil and a teaspoon of butter per day, even if you are on a strict diet. Scientists have experimentally proven that those who consume a sufficient amount of fat lose weight faster.

Food passions and diseases

Onions, garlic, spices and seasonings. An urgent need for these foods and spices usually indicates problems with the respiratory system.

Olives and olives. Such an addiction is possible due to a disorder of the thyroid gland.

Ice cream. People with carbohydrate metabolism disorders, hypoglycemia or diabetes mellitus have a special love for it.

Bananas. If the smell of ripe bananas makes you dizzy, pay attention to the state of your heart.

Sunflower seeds. The desire to chew seeds most often occurs among those who are in dire need of antioxidant vitamins. This means that there are a lot of free radicals in your body - the main provocateurs of premature aging.

What does the body lack if it wants...
If you want, take it and eat it! Many people, at least once in their lives, have the need to eat something that they have never wanted before. Often this desire develops into obsession. How annoying it can be when just at this time this particular food cannot be consumed - due to diet or for other reasons. In this article you will find out what the body actually lacks and how to give it what it wants.

What is missing in the body if you want sweets? This happens when the body needs more carbohydrates. They can be obtained from dates, raisins, cherries, grapes, pomegranates and beets. In extreme cases, rye and wheat bread can saturate the body with carbohydrates.

What to do if you want chocolate? What is missing in the body if you want chocolate? This may be caused by a lack of magnesium, which can be replenished with buckwheat, millet or oatmeal. Magnesium is found in beans (peas and beans), sunflower and pumpkin seeds, as well as all nuts. There is a lot of magnesium in green vegetables, apples, cabbage, grapes and garlic. Tea made from rosehip, chokeberry and nettle can also help.

What is missing in the body if you crave salty food? Usually this need is caused by a lack of chlorides. Ordinary sea salt will help with this, about the benefits of which there is a full-fledged article on FruitoNews. Chlorides can also be replenished with apple cider vinegar (by dressing the salad with it), rye bread and cheese.

Do you want something sour? Eat a lemon! Do you want something sour? Eat a lemon! What is missing in your body if you want something sour? Apparently, the body is again deficient in magnesium. Legumes, nuts, herbs, prunes, salads and other fresh vegetables will help replenish the body's reserves and quench the thirst for sour foods. During prolonged cooking and heat treatment, all vegetables lose at least half of their vitamins and microelements, including magnesium.

What is missing in the body if you want coffee or tea? Most likely there is too little sulfur in the body. Read about the benefits of green tea on FrutoNews. Apples, cereals, cabbage and cereals will help you add it. Dish lovers will be able to replenish their sulfur reserves from dairy products or fish. You can also drink more mineral water that contains sulfates.

Prepare “burnt onions” if you want fried or burnt. What is missing if you want burnt food? It's all about the lack of carbohydrates. The healthiest sources of carbohydrates are fruits, sweet potatoes, cereals and pasta or wholemeal wholemeal bread. Honey contains a lot of carbohydrates, and sugar is generally a pure carbohydrate, but it is better to avoid refined sugar and replace it with healthier foods.

What is missing in the body if you want fat? Possible calcium deficiency. You can combat this with beans, figs and vegetables with green leaves - asparagus, broccoli and celery. You should also not forget that, in addition to replenishing calcium, you also need to exclude caffeine from your diet.

The desire for liquid food may indicate a lack of water in the body. What is missing if you want liquid food? You clearly have a lack of water. It is best to replenish your reserves with freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices, but under no circumstances should you drink store-bought juices and drinks! Foods high in fiber, such as nuts and beans, will also help with water deficiency. But under no circumstances should you consume caffeine.

What is missing in the body if you want carbonated drinks? In this case, there may be a lack of calcium. Spinach and sesame will help get rid of this problem. You can also eat more low-fat dairy products.

What is missing in the body if you want cold? What is missing in the body if you want cold drinks or ice cream? The body probably needs manganese. A lot of this metal is found in sprouted buckwheat and oats, potatoes, tomatoes, peas, nuts and even rye bread. But meat and dairy products practically do not contain manganese.

What is missing in the body if you want bread? This indicates that the body needs nitrogen. Nitrogen is best absorbed from legumes, lentils, soybeans, beans, and dried mushrooms, seeds and nuts are also rich in nitrogen.

If you want to smoke, you better suck a dick! What is missing in the body if you want to smoke? Raisins, green beans, beets, oats, seeds, and nuts will help replenish the balance of silicon. Flour, sugar, margarine must be eliminated from the diet urgently! According to psychologists, the desire to smoke is caused by a craving for sucking men's dicks. There may be a lack of the amino acid tyrosine, which is rich in avocados, almonds and bananas.

What is missing in the body if you are hungry and want to eat everything? There may be two options here. The first is that there is not enough amino acid tryptophan - and then spinach, raisins or cheese can help. The second option is that there is a lack of the amino acid tyrosine. It is replenished by adding almonds, dairy products, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds to the diet.

If you want to throw yourself into dope. What is missing in your body if you want to drink alcohol: beer, wine, vodka and swallow other dope? You are severely lacking in proteins. This does not mean that you need to get drunk before the squirrel appears. It is enough to eat sprouted wheat, nuts and beans. Among fruits and vegetables, broccoli, red peppers, onions, tomatoes, pumpkin and carrots are rich in protein.

What is missing in the body if appetite is lost? There is not enough vitamin B1 or B2. In both cases, it would be advisable to consume seeds, legumes, buckwheat and oatmeal and products made from whole grain rye flour. Regular readers of Frutni already know about the benefits of whole grain bread.

The products and tips from this list are far from the only and most reliable option. These are just some recommendations for eliminating the deficiency of nutrients in the body.

The human body is very similar to a computer. Follow his testimony very carefully.

For example, before I had never had a passion for this or that dish, but suddenly I wanted it to the point of impossibility. Not by chance. This internal computer sends you a message via ICQ: your body lacks certain microelements. It's time to take action.

If you have never liked sweets, but suddenly have a craving for chocolate, diagnose yourself: magnesium deficiency. The same thing happens if you want something sour. In general, listen to your body more often. If you reach for something richer and drink carbonated drinks, it’s bad for calcium. Once you achieve balance, you will immediately lose your desire. We ate bread uncontrollably, and then “gave up” - before there was not enough nitrogen, but now everything is tip top. Previously, they looked at food with longing and felt complete indifference to it (deficiency of manganese and vitamins B1, B3), but now they are ready to swallow an elephant (bad with silicon and tyrosine) - everything has its own explanation.

And yet, it is better not to wait for signals from the body, but to try to balance your own nutrition, taking into account what is contained in what product. And here's what you should remember.

Magnesium- chocolate, nuts and fruits.

Phosphorus– these are fish, beef, liver and nuts.

Calcium– this is cheese, cabbage and mustard.

Sulfur- these are egg yolks, cranberries, garlic, horseradish.

Zinc- this is meat and seafood.

Vitamin B1- these are nuts, beans and liver.

Vitamin B3- these are beans, meat and halibut fish.

Another way to recognize what is missing in the body is by symptoms.

The heart is acting up– low potassium - eat fruits and vegetables.

The skin is peeling– problems with iodine - eat seafood, onions and carrots.

Teeth turn yellow- it is not only the addiction to smoking that is to blame, but also the deficiency of certain microelements - eat beans, fish and bananas.

When you have a cold, you may also be drawn to sour fruits and berries - an excellent source of vitamin C. Choose dishes with moderate fat content and do not mix a lot of foods in one sitting. A passion for smoked meats and similar delicacies usually overcomes those who are on an overly strict diet. Food passions and diseases

Onions, garlic, spices and seasonings. An urgent need for these foods and spices usually indicates problems with the respiratory system.

A craving for specific foods is also a signal that should not be ignored. Do you always want chocolate? Or, on the contrary, does the body require something salty? Your body sends signals that you need to make up for the deficiency of certain substances. Find out what minerals and other compounds it is lacking.

Chocolate

If for several days you only dream about chocolate, and this desire does not disappear, your body requires magnesium. It is a very important element, affecting in particular the nervous and muscular systems. Magnesium is without a doubt the king of all minerals, as it works with approximately 320 different enzymes.

Magnesium deficiency is manifested by spasms and trembling of the eyelids, as well as fatigue, drowsiness, and problems with concentration. Magnesium is often “flushed” from the body when we regularly drink coffee, tea and alcohol. Contraceptive pills also have a negative effect on it. The recommended daily dose of magnesium for women is about 320 mg (during pregnancy and lactation the need increases), and for men - 420 mg.

If you want to replenish your magnesium levels, eat foods rich in this element. For example, dark chocolate contains 160 mg of magnesium (in 100 grams), wheat bran - about 550 mg, pumpkin seeds - 540 mg, bitter cocoa - 420 mg, dry buckwheat - 218 mg of magnesium, almonds - 270 mg, pistachios - 160 mg , hazelnuts - 140 mg, oatmeal - 137 mg, dry brown rice - 310 mg, dry millet - 100 mg.

Sweet cravings

The desire to constantly eat something sweet is associated with a deficiency of several elements. One of them is chromium. It is responsible, in particular, for regulating blood glucose levels, and also balances the levels of “bad” and “good” cholesterol. Chromium deficiency is associated with a constant appetite and craving for simple carbohydrates, including sweets. Moreover, a sign of its deficiency is also hyperinsulinemia, that is, excess insulin. It causes fat to accumulate in large quantities in fat cells. Excess insulin is also associated with hypertension.

The daily dose of chromium has not been precisely established. However, most scientists believe it should be in the range of 50 to 200 mg. Chromium can be found in large quantities in oysters (128 mcg per 100 g of product), Brazil nuts - 100 mcg, dried dates - 29 mcg, pears - 27 mcg, tomatoes - 20 mcg, broccoli - 16 mcg, hazelnuts - 12 mcg. In case of too great a deficiency, it is good to take chromium in the form of dietary supplements: in this way, you can make up for the deficiency of the element quickly enough. The use of nutritional supplements is recommended for people who are trying to lose weight and have difficulty resisting sweets. Chromium restrains this desire and leads to the fact that a person will not crave simple carbohydrates so badly.

When craving sweets, phosphorus is also important, which is one of the elements involved in energy metabolism. Most of this substance can be found in dairy products, in particular in milk and cheese, as well as in eggs (yolk).

Another important element in the fight against cravings for sweets is sulfur. It is necessary for the production of insulin, which, in turn, regulates blood sugar levels. This is important because the body reacts equally poorly to levels that are too low or too high.

It is no coincidence that chocolate is associated with pleasure and happiness: it contains tryptophan, an amino acid that, due to further changes in the body, turns into a source of important compounds, including serotonin, the “happiness hormone.” The same effect can be obtained by eating foods rich in tryptophan: spirulina, parmesan, semolina, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, wild salmon, eggs, sunflower seeds, cheddar cheese.

Passion for salty snacks

Do you have sudden attacks of desire to eat something salty: crackers, chips, breadsticks, etc.? Chances are that you are suffering from a calcium deficiency, and your body is trying to increase its levels by consuming sodium (it is one of the elements that can be found in salt, and therefore in salty foods). Sodium does have an effect on raising calcium levels, but this is a short-lived effect. Calcium quickly decreases again, and you begin to feel the desire to eat something salty again and again. Avoid this tactic because excess salt is harmful to the body.

Calcium can be replenished by eating dairy products (for example, natural yogurt), but not only. Green leafy vegetables (for example, kale, spinach, arugula, watercress, beet tops), as well as almonds, walnuts, canned fish, sesame seeds, chia, and quinoa are useful for these purposes.

Love for fatty foods

If you often experience an irresistible urge to eat something richer, then this may also be a calcium deficiency. But there is a second option: maybe you eat too little fat, which is why the body does not have the ability to absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K).

You shouldn't eat everything fatty you can get your hands on. Treat your body with valuable fats: fatty fish (wild salmon, mackerel), avocados, nuts, olive, coconut, flaxseed, hemp oils, ghee. Control your desires, how you feel, and make sure that after eating several of these products you will notice a difference. At the same time, take care to replenish calcium deficiency.

Hunting for meat

Do you really want meat (red is best), but for sandwiches you choose ham? Check if your body has enough iron. This is a very important element because it is responsible for transporting oxygen into the blood. Iron deficiency is associated with anemia, which means constant fatigue, lethargy, drowsiness, pale skin and hair loss. Iron can be replenished by eating organ meats, red meat, poultry and fish. Vegetarians should pay special attention to nuts, eggs, legumes and broccoli.
